Soy can reduce some risks associated with the drop of estrogen. And in combination with a healthy low fat diet, whole soy foods can lower LDL cholesterol and possibly triglycerides to help protect your heart. Foods that contain whole soy are a good source of protein for vegetarians and vegans because they provide all the amino acids - a type of nutrient - that people need to stay healthy.
