Former President Corazon Aquino failed to attend the installation of a bronze bust of her husband, the late former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 Monday.
Mrs Aquino could not attend Monday's ceremony led by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, as she was undergoing chemotherapy.
Mrs Aquino, who was earlier diagnosed to have colon cancer, had joined calls for Mrs Arroyo's resignation following the "Hello, Garci" controversy in 2005.
The bronze bust of Sen. Aquino is part of the nationwide commemoration this week of the 25th anniversary of his martyrdom.
The former senator was assassinated at the old Manila International Airport (MIA) upon his return to the Philippines from exile on Aug. 21, 1983.
